Dr. Zither

Welcome to the Website of Dr. Bill Kolb, Ph.D., "Doctor Zither". I hope you will enjoy the information on these pages and, as new information is being added all the time, I hope you will visit often.

An accomplished solo entertainer who has performed on both sides of the Atlantic, Dr. Zither is available to bring his beautiful music to any occasion. One of the founding members of the North America Zither Orchestra, he has given concerts across the United States, and has played with internationally recognized zither virtuosos as Tomy Temerson, and Freddy Golden. He was the featured performer in Washington, D.C. at the inauguration of the National German-American Heritage Museum for the German Ambassador to the United States and other VIPs. Most recently, Dr. Zither performed with the State Zither Orchestra of NorthRhine-Westfalia in Königswinter, Germany.

Dr. Zither can often be heard entertaining guests at one of the great German restaurants in the NY-NJ-CT area and his very extensive repertoire extends from the traditional German and Austrian folksongs to Broadway show classics, Latin rhythms, Country and Western songs and popular American tunes.

One enthusiastic listener once commented that "Dr. Zither's music is so soothing, it is like getting a massage".

Several of the songs on Dr. Zither's CD "Greatest German Folk Songs" were featured recently in the documentary "The German Bohemians". This documentary chronicles the migration of large numbers of Germans from the area of pre-World War I Austria to the US, most specifically in the regions around New Ulm, Minnesota.
